I went fully back to work this week after taking some time off for the holidays and it is hitting me like a ton of bricks.
So many good things are happening and I’m really excited about the month and year ahead, but I am moving sloooooooowwwww, both mentally and physically. Add the fact that Southern California is burning down, and my brain just isn’t firing on all cylinders. (Note: If you’re looking to do something to help, I recommend donating to Baby2Baby, who are on the ground there provided essentials to families and children affected by the fires.)
I’m feeling tired, distracted and basically just adjusting very poorly to being back on a schedule after the blissful, low-key days of Christmas break.
Today is the final stretch of this eternal-feeling week, and it’s a fun one because it’s MOVING DAY!! So surreal that we’re officially going to be working from the new studio from here on out.
I have two goals for the weekend and only two goals: wrap up my 2025 wardrobe inventory so I can share it with you next week, and get lots of rest.
Sending love and saying my prayers for everyone in LA — stay safe out there.
January Moodboard
The earthy tones and textures I chose for this moodboard evoke a sense of warmth and quiet elegance (two things I always love). Other details — like getting a cup of coffee with a friend or a walk by the sea — are there as a reminder to pause, savor the moment, and remain connected. I've also given two accessories center stage here, from the structured beauty of our Mara Bag (coming soon in Chocolate Brown) to the sculptural design of our new Sunrise French pins dropping this month. These pieces are not just functional but intentional, elevating even the simplest looks.
A Favorite “Uniform”
I’ve been experimenting with oversized + oversized pieces over the past year or so. As a millennial, this was a difficult fashion concept to accept, because it’s not necessarily “flattering” but it’s been a life-changing choice and I’m fully on board now. In case you are in the same boat as my former self, consider this your reminder: you are allowed to wear an oversized top + oversized bottoms — life is short, wear what you want.
Here are a few recent baggy looks I’ve loved…
What I’m Reading This Week
FICTION: Finishing up The Night We Lost Him by Laura Dave this week and enjoying it!
NON-FICTION: The 12 Week Year by Brian P. Moran, which I’ve read once before but am reviewing again for the new year and hoping to give this concept a try for 2025.
Also, don’t miss these two style-related posts from others on Substack…
Is this the real reason you hate your wardrobe? | “If I could go back to a past version of myself, in addition to giving her lots of love and kindness, I’d tell her to stop waiting. To stop waiting until she’s a certain size to enjoy getting dressed. I’d tell her, yes your body's going to change, again and again, but there is beauty and joy throughout. I’d tell her don’t miss out on the creativity you could unlock, and that ultimately, it would help heal her.”
How to Dress With Intention in 2025 | “Think of them less as goals and more as guideposts if you’re feeling lost with your style or mindless in your shopping. These intentions may seem simple, but small tweaks add up to great change.”
Hope you have a great weekend — until next time!
