Week in Review #48: The week before the wave hits
A late summer juggling act (plus my thoughts on the Taylor Swift podcast episode)
This week felt like standing in that thin space between seasons — part of me still lingering in summer’s ease, part of me bracing for the rush ahead. Work has had its share of whiplash moments over the past month, but the good news is worth celebrating: the Sera Crescent Bags in bone leather should finally be completed early next week, just in time for our event on the 21st. It’s been a wild ride getting from point A to point B with these and I’m so grateful for your patience. (If you’re not local, they’ll be online for our Early Access list on August 27th at 8am PDT.)
At home, the shift toward school-and-sports season is starting to show — earlier mornings, fuller calendars — but I’m holding onto the slower moments while I can. Last night it was dinner and Freakier Friday with friends — exactly the kind of midweek reset that makes everything else feel lighter. Because from here, the pace only picks up: a day trip to LA to visit our leather factory, hosting Freda Salvador and Vincent James in our store on Thursday, and then straight into a quick NYC trip the first week of September for an event at the Freda Salvador store to celebrate our fall collaboration.
For now, I’m savoring these last quiet days of summer before the wave hits — knowing the next few weeks will be full, fast, and hopefully just as rewarding.
Thought of the Week

Hit or Miss List
Hit: You’ve Got Mail, always. Watched it this week as I’m gearing up for fall. It never disappoints.
Miss: Gull Island by Anna Porter. I was excited to read this one, but finally decided to call it quits this week.
Hit: The FS x NBD Jessie Flats — selling out quickly, so grab them while you can. (Also, don’t miss the loafer charms, now in silver also!)
Miss: I carved out two hours for the New Heights podcast episode with Taylor Swift… and I’ll be honest, it was a struggle. I wanted to love it — I’m a big fan of her music and deeply respect her as a businessperson — but I walked away underwhelmed by the whole thing. So many people have said it felt raw, genuine, and fun; for me, it just didn’t click. Maybe it’s because I’m not the target audience of the podcast. Or maybe it’s like cilantro: you either love it or you don’t.
Going, going, gone.
Our Sunset Event continues, with 25% off automatically applied at checkout for anything in the collection. These pieces are all retiring and will not be restocked, so if you’ve had your eye on them, grab them while you can.
Until next time!
