Week in Review #50: I want it to be fall but it's 80 degrees out
Plus 13 outfits I've worn this month & my favorite fall movies I watch on repeat
Every September it happens — kids go back to school, fall candles appear in stores, pumpkin patches start opening up…and then it gets even hotter here. August and September are the warmest months of the year in San Diego, but September always feels warmer to me because I want it to be fall.
To cope with these feelings I’ve been using my air conditioning and watching my favorite fall movies, which include:
You’ve Got Mail — The ultimate fall rom-com. Bookstores, bouquets of sharpened pencils, and New York at its best.
Baby Boom — Vermont foliage, career reinvention, motherhood, and peak plaid blazer and big coat energy.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone — Back-to-school magic, candlelit halls, and cozy scarves at every turn. Especially love this one in October.
Good Will Hunting — Moody Boston fall, and lots of cable knit sweaters. A classic that makes me cry every time, but in the best way.
Hocus Pocus — Halloween nostalgia, lighthearted witchy fun, and autumn in Salem.
One Fine Day — NYC chaos, single parent romance, and 90s style.
Dan in Real Life — NEW ADDITION! Big extended family gathering in a charming East Coast home, fall leaves, heartfelt chaos, sweaters-on-sweaters. I just watched this for the first time last week and it’s officially on the annual watch list. Loved it.
Would you add anything the the list? Feel free to share in the comments! (For the record, When Harry Met Sally is an annual essential watch for me and does have beautiful fall energy in there, but I usually watch that one during the week between Christmas and NYE).
Thought of the Week
September Mood
The vibe? Oversized blazers. Broken in loafers (with charms!). Effortless hair. Double denim. Strong espresso. Good books. Luxe knits. Perfectly slouchy shoulder bags. Can’t wait for the weather to match the mood.
30 Days of Outfits (So Far)
I’ve been doing a 30 Days of Outfits series on Instagram and realized that many of you aren’t on that platform so I wanted to share over here as well.
Until next time!

I relate to this SO STRONGLY as an Angeleno who loves fall fashion. I'm trying to lean into autumnal colors instead of autumnal materials/fabrics until things eventually cool down. And accessories that infuse a bit of fall feeling (like a chocolate suede tote) that can be paired with clothing that works when it's 80 degrees out.
I’m experimenting with blazers for the fall, and I bought a secondhand one today for $5 that I love! But I have a question about shoulder pads! Do you have them in yours? Do you like them? I feel like older blazers have them, and I’m already tall with broad shoulders, so I feel like it’s a lot on me!
