What I Wore This Week #8: Easing into summer outfits
...and dabbling in the summer capsule as the sun starts coming out finally.
I’ve shared previously about the weather here in San Diego — it’s honestly gorgeous all year long, except for May and June. I joke that this is when I wear my sweaters the most. It’s gloomy and chilly and a little drizzly and while I don’t totally hate it, it does make it hard to get into a summer mood. This weekend was the first weekend that felt like summer here and it was fun to start dabbling in some summer looks. I created a 28-Piece Summer Capsule that I’m using as a guide for my outfits, and if you’re struggling to figure out what to wear this season hopefully it can make things easier for you, too.
Real quick before we jump into the outfits, some quick housekeeping! Starting today, you are able to subscribe separately to the different sections of Legit Mom Style — What I Wore This Week (what you’re reading right now!), Week in Review (every Friday) and Packing Light (a sporadic section I post on only when I take a trip & share a packing list). Of course I hope you’ll subscribe to all of them, but this way if you’re interested in getting less emails/notifications, or simply interested in one type of content over another, you can have control over what you receive. Let me know if you have any questions or run into any issues, and of course I’m always open to feedback!
Now, what I wore this week…
TUESDAY: Kept it very minimalist with a black shirt & jeans. Comfortable, casual and cool. Will be wearing again soon — I loved it.
WEDNESDAY: For a chilly day at the office, I broke the cardinal rule of millennials and didn’t tuck in my top! Not going to lie, it felt very odd. But also it was so comfortable!
THURSDAY: It warmed up and I jumped at the chance to wear this dress La Ligne gifted me this month — I love slanted stripes as a summer pattern that is still versatile and minimalist.
FRIDAY: I’m noticing a pattern where I often wear a heel on Fridays. Basically the opposite of casual Friday?! Not sure why I do that, but here we are, another Friday with a heel.
SATURDAY: We all decided we wanted to dress up a bit for Father’s Day dinner out with my family, and this new set from MIRTH proved to be a perfect summer set. Use NatalieB15 for 15% off.
SUNDAY: We had a very mellow & casual day, ending with Mexican food on the beach and making s’mores with our new beach fire pit. An absolutely ideal evening if you ask me!
MONDAY: Suits have long been associated with being uptight or uncomfortable, but I feel the exact opposite when I wear a blazer/trouser combo! Especially when I pair it with sneakers or sandals. It’s loose, chic, effortless and cool and such an easy outfit to put together.

Love all the style inspiration, thank you! Was wondering if you ended up keeping the leather blazer from Shopbop sale? I thought that was a cool piece so was curious on quality/fit.
