Week in Review #10: A 28-piece summer capsule for the minimalist
Simplicity is the name of the game — but don't forget the accessories!
Layering is one of those little style tricks that instantly makes any outfit cooler, but it becomes infinitely more difficult to do when the temperatures rise up into the 80s, 90s and 100s depending on where you are. I always love simplicity, but summer is really when that mindset can shine. My ideal summer wardrobe is full of minimal, mix and match pieces paired with key accessories that add depth, texture and layering without any extra warmth. Today I’m sharing a summer capsule for you if you’re looking to make getting dressed this summer a no-brainer.
Interestingly (but perhaps not surprisingly), this capsule is essentially all of the same pieces I wore on repeat last summer. You’ll see a lot of the pieces in my 3-week travel capsule, and I can confidently say that they were great for my summer weather and activities (which included Southern California, New England and France in August).
If you are in the market for something, I’ve provided links.1 But my hope is that this can inspire you to use what you have, to curate a minimalist summer wardrobe that works for YOU and your personal style. Don’t get caught up on numbers or rules, just focus on simplicity and versatility (and remember to accessorize/style the looks!) and you’ll be all set.
I hope this will serve to remind us all that we really don’t need as much clothing as we think we do! Now, let’s get to it…

Thought of the Week
What I Wore This Week
See all of the looks here. This one below was my favorite I think…
Currently Reading
I finished up Filterworld last week and just started reading Once Upon a Time: The Captivating Life of Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy. I’m also about halfway through Wool (past the parts they covered in the show Silo) and absolutely loving it. If you’re into sci-fi and dystopian books, definitely check it out.
Hope you have a great weekend — until next time!

Thank you for the post Natalie, and reminder of how great small wardrobes are! I over research purchases, have a small wardrobe, and edit frequently, but have not found a place of contentment yet. Life adjusts and I find my clothes doing so with me.
We are moving cross-country this summer, and as the transition, we are visiting loved ones for a month. I've been praying for packing, and I'm already at 39 pieces and I thought "ok, this is not a capsule, this is indiscretion haha." I'm excited to cull back down! Thanks for the inspiration, Natalie! And cheers to a fresh summer!
