Ok. Controversial take: feel free to stop reading Demon Copperhead. It fell squarely into the *trauma porn* bucket for me.. the beginning is so well written it pulls you in.. but then 😓😖😖.
I have been reading it for months and was depressed about how little I was reading and then realized it’s because I was trying to power through that book. I quit and have since read about 10 books in a short period. Glad it wasn’t just me!
