What I Packed (& Wore) for 2 Weeks in New England This Summer
...Plus a packing list for a quick trip back to California for a wedding!
We wrapped up our summer with a couple of weeks on the East Coast visiting family, eating our weight in lobster, and enjoying plenty of time out on the water. As always, I stuck to my carry-on only policy, cutting it extremely close and barely squeezing it all in. I blame the sweaters (though they proved necessary!).
Here’s what made it into my bag1…

Right in the middle of our trip, Brian and I hopped on a plane for a quick few days to attend a family wedding in Carmel-by-the-Sea. Our flights were delayed and it took eternity to get there, but it’s always worth it for a visit to Carmel, especially for this extra special occasion.
The weather in Carmel was in the mid-60s to low-50s, so sweaters were key for this packing list. Here’s what I ended up bringing with me (didn’t need it all, but since I had extra room in my suitcase I threw some extra things in there just in case!)…
I also came home with two new sweaters (ivory and olive, but olive isn’t on the website yet!) thanks to the generosity of one of the shop owners at Tejido, which is where we’re planning a fall pop-up event either next month or early October. I’ll keep you posted!
Here’s a glance at the outfits I put together during the 2 week trip…
PACKING REFLECTIONS
Admittedly, I definitely feel like I overpacked this time around. I didn’t anticipate that I would get two new sweaters in Carmel (they were a gift from Tejido). Also, while I did wear them, I could’ve done without the black trousers, leggings set, one of the sweaters, the tan low heels, and the packable hat (I forgot I have a hat that I keep at my parent’s house, which is where we stayed).
