What I Wore This Week #14: From a birthday dinner to a red eye flight
...complete with some really great outwear (finally!)
I’m currently traveling in Zurich (packing list and outfits coming up next week!) and have been tossing and turning in bed, unable to sleep after all of the travel and time change. I finally decided to just call it and let myself off the hook from trying to make sleep happen. Hence, here I am at 4:00am — answering some emails, working on our NBD line sheets for 2025, watching When Harry Met Sally and reflecting on a week of outfits with you.
Coats and knits were the stars of this week’s outfits — I’m so glad it’s finally that time of year because layering makes the most interesting looks. Hopefully these looks give you some ideas and inspiration for how you can wear some of the pieces you already have in your closet this fall!1
TUESDAY: My outfit as a 38 year old! I wore this to my birthday dinner out with my family. I absolutely love this knit vest (a great sweater option for San Diego, and great for layering) and the low mule heels add an effortless ease that also dresses up a denim look.
WEDNESDAY: The trench coat truly makes this outfit special — big thanks to my friend Karla for sourcing it for me!
THURSDAY: Kept it ultra cozy in alpaca all day and surprised myself how much I loved the sweater belted! When I saw it online I thought it was a charcoal color, but in person it definitely reads as more of a cool brown hue.
FRIDAY: I elevated an otherwise very casual outfit (baggy jeans and long sleeve tee) with some chic accessories — The Mara Bag, The Natalie Belt, a cozy sweater around my shoulders, and some Mary Jane flats to add a little sweetness.
SATURDAY (morning): Life is too short to save your favorite things for “later” — wear the good stuff for the everyday things like walking the dog because these everyday moments are what life is made of. This vintage coat proved to be a perfect early morning dog walking layer.
SATURDAY (daytime): In full weekend mom mode with my sideline lounge chair, gigantic tote, handsfree bag and double espresso.
SUNDAY: I stuck with comfy, easy neutrals for a family dinner out. The necklace is a little sneak peek for you of something coming out later this month!
MONDAY: Pajamas, but make it chic — this really shows the power of a matching set and a gorgeous coat. I felt super comfortable for our 11 hour flight to Zurich (and the coat worked well as an additional blanket layer while I slept!)
Until next time!
xx
