Skincare crisis, a collaborative spring jewelry collection, 10 Mother's Day gift ideas, 5 things to read & more...
Over the past week and a half, my skin has completely revolted against me. It’s angry, breaking out, red, irritated and generally unhappy. I’m not a big makeup person, but I have to say that this week I’ve never been more thankful for complexion correctors (this is my go-to, I wear the shade ‘Camel’). I’ve also relied on this super gentle and nourishing moisturizer my friend Ailsa got me hooked on, which is perfect for when skin is overly sensitive, dry or just generally freaking out.
Thankfully my appearance is the least interesting thing about me, so I will in fact survive. I am, however, rethinking my entire skincare routine as a result and considering revisiting a more natural route in lieu of the topical Aklief and Winlevi I’ve been using for the past couple of years.
In other news, if you’re on my brand’s email list you already know this, but we launched the Natalie Borton Designs x THATCH Jewelry Spring Collection today! Inspired by our shared love of connection through personal style, this collaboration is a celebration of women in business and a nod to the beauty of California.
We’ve been working on this since the fall, and the creative process has been a dream with the THATCH team. From dreaming up initial concepts to sampling to finalizing the lineup, I absolutely love working with them and am so happy with how the pieces turned out! If you live locally, I’d love to meet you at our upcoming shopping event in Point Loma — more details for you here.

5 Things to Read
This week I thought I’d change it up since I’m still working on the same books I shared last week. Here are a few interesting things I’ve read over the past few weeks that are definitely worth pondering…
What’s Become of Us? | I don’t 100% agree with this, but I definitely think it’s worth reading and considering and letting it spur on more intentionality with our behavior and technology use.
Can You Raise a Teen Today Without a Smartphone? | I absolutely love seeing the rise in conversations about the dangers of phone-based childhoods and the value of resisting the cultural pressure to get smartphones for our kids. Yes!
It’s okay to love fashion! | “You can be into fashion even if you don’t know everything. You can be into fashion and not be materialistic. You can be into fashion and still be mindful of your consumption.”
‘Winners’ Know When To Quit | As someone who left a successful business due to dysfunctional business partnership, I feel this on a deep level! “Every time I decided to let go of something that wasn't working for me or making me unhappy, a space was opened up for something more aligned to come into my life. Without fail, those spaces were filled with something better than what I had been so desperately clinging to.”
I Don’t Want to Do It All Anymore | “Resting isn’t about doing nothing, it’s about giving your brain, nervous system and body time to be in restorative states outside of sleep,” says Neese. “It gives us access to creativity and decision making that isn’t possible when we are exhausted or living in states of chronic stress.”
Until next time!
xx

I regularly (though not always) use affiliate links in my newsletter and receive a small commission if you purchase something through my links. This ensures I’m able to keep all of my content free for you to read, share & save. As always, thanks for being here!
I love the change up with linking articles! Not that you shouldn’t continue with the books, but I love alternating between them ❤️
Thank you for the reading links! The raising teens w/o smartphones really resonated with me. We waited until our youngest was 15 to give her one, but we decided to lock it down to only texting and phone calls until she turned 18 a couple months ago (no social media). It was the best decision ever. She had a much happier 'teenhood' than her older sister, even though we did have some bumps along the road due to FOMO, it was worth it.
