What I Wore This Week #7: Woven textures and shades of brown
Very into basket totes and the color brown at the moment and it shows.
I never imagined brown would fall into my “favorite colors” category, but here we are. I love the way it can add depth and warmth to my minimalist outfits, and it’s fun to play with different shades of espresso, chocolate, beige and even golden yellow and cream to create tonal looks. As always, comfort is my priority, and keeping everything feeling elevated and effortless is the goal.
By popular demand, I’m finishing up a summer capsule for you this week, and plan to share that on Friday for the Week in Review — be sure to subscribe so you don’t miss it! Here’s what I wore this past week…1
TUESDAY: These pants!! Probably my most comfortable pair I own, and every time I wear them I think, “I should wear these every day!” They do run big, so I recommend your smaller size unless you want the option to wear them a bit more low slung. Also, I hemmed mine about an inch (I’m 5’4”)
WEDNESDAY: I had one of my kids home sick with me and never changed into real clothes, but here’s an old photo of the exact thing I wore all day…
THURSDAY: I decided to play around a bit with color after seeing a Pinterest pin with this same color palette and I love how it came together!
FRIDAY: It was not nearly warm enough for the one-shoulder tank!! I ended up wearing my green shacket over the one-shoulder tank for most of the day (as shown by the post-facial photo below)
SATURDAY: To meet up with some friends of ours from out of town, I kept it simple with a tank, shorts & jacket. The raw silk shorts were perfect in Maui and I know they’re going to be a summertime essential as the weather warms up here.
SUNDAY: For a morning birthday party at the beach, I wore this jacket, but when the sun finally came out it was really nice to take it off! We spent most of the day outside, enjoying the much-desired sunshine.
MONDAY: Started the new week off with shades of brown — these shoes & this bag have been in heavy rotation over the past week, that’s for sure!

Hi Natalie! Question about your CoH Marcelle pants! Did you have to size down a few sizes in those? I sized down 2-3 sizes in the Horseshoe style as well and curious if you found they run similar. Thank you! 🤍
Hi Natalie! New to your Substack and have quickly become a fan. I was in the process of looking for outfit ideas for an upcoming trip and my top priority was a pair of stylish flat shoes. I ordered the Freda Salvador "Jada" flats and they were perfect. So glad I found them! Loving your posts about brown as well.
